Synopsis

When a client in Europe needed to navigate two different restrictions at 2.24” to perform a completion retrieval cut, Welltec® provided the ultra-slim Well Cutter® 218, with an outer diameter of just 2.125”.

The electro-mechanical, non-explosive tool was first deployed through a tubing restriction (2.24”) to cut in the same 4-1/2” tubing, subsequently navigating through an overshot ID (also 2.24”) to cut in 3-1/2” tubing.

The Well Cutter produced two smooth, beveled-edge cuts within 24 hours of rig-up, supporting efficient recovery and workover, while enhancing HSE by avoiding chemical cutting methods and reducing regulatory and surface safety risk.
