ALLERØD, Denmark, January 5, 2026 – Welltec® announces the introduction of a fourth business segment, adding Downhole Isolation to its solution areas with immediate effect, marking one of the company’s most significant expansions in its 30-year history.
In a strategic expansion of wireline-enabled, rigless intervention services, the new Downhole Isolation segment comprises three distinct solution types: Annular isolation, Leak isolation, and Reservoir isolation – amalgamating several field-proven technologies with exciting new IP, with a planned release cycle of downhole plugs throughout 2026.

Welltec® began as a pioneering Intervention service provider in 1994 with the introduction of the revolutionary Well Tractor®, before expanding into the realms of Completion and New Energy in 2010 and 2021 spearheaded by iterations of the Welltec Annular Barrier (WAB®). Many of Welltec’s products and services can be applied across all three of these segments.
The Downhole Isolation segment integrates multiple proven technologies, all deployable without the need for heavy rigs or fluid displacement. The Downhole Isolation segment is in operation with immediate effect and will continue to grow throughout 2026 with the addition of more high-expansion, multi-set plug types and further product innovations.

Key technologies include the Welltec® Saturn Expander for restoring annular isolation (cement densification), the award-winning Welltec® Springblade Patch (patch-thru-patch), the Welltec® Delta Xpander – Internal Patch, and a new generation of retrievable bridge plugs: THOR™ High-Expansion Plug, and VALI™ Medium-Expansion Plug.
The technologies within the Downhole Isolation segment are all either designed and manufactured in-house or procured through targeted investments and exclusive partnerships, ensuring full availability with the highest level of verification.
Welltec has also invested in additional state-of-the-art CNC equipment to maintain agility and fast response times while meeting growing demand across intervention activities.
