Stavanger, Norway (December 18, 2024) – Welltec® is pleased to share that Equinor has activated the option of a three-year contract extension with AKOFS Seafarer Light Well Intervention (LWI) vessel, in turn ensuring the continued delivery of Welltec Intervention Services (WIS) in one of the longest-running LWI contracts in the industry.
This latest milestone builds upon the success of a standing five-year agreement which has seen AKOFS and Welltec service more than 150 wells together, leveraging a collaborative execution framework known as the ‘One Team Model,’ to facilitate close cooperation between all teams.
An industry-leading collaboration
“Equinor’s decision to extend this contract underscores the strength of our collaboration and the exceptional performance of all the teams involved. Together with AKOFS, we’ve set new benchmarks in safe, efficient, and innovative LWI operations,” says Houssam Mourani, Vice President of WIS Sales at Welltec.
With its custom-built setup and offshore tool redress capability, AKOFS Seafarer is leading the way in effective interventions, delivering HSE advantages such as a safe rig-up with conveyors and other operational enhancements.
Supporting Norway’s energy future
This contract extension bolsters Welltec’s presence in Norway, reaffirming the company’s commitment to the region. It also comes in the backdrop of a soon-to-be-complete Technology Centre in Stavanger, which will bring Wellgrab, Isealate, and Innowell teams all under one roof with Welltec, fostering collaboration and driving innovation in the energy industry.
“We are proud of the strong relationships we’ve built with Equinor and AKOFS teams and remain committed to delivering innovative solutions that benefit all stakeholders. With our purpose-built Technology Center on the brink of completion, this will mean we can support cutting-edge offshore interventions even more effectively,” says Tommy Eikeland, Chief Commercial Officer at Welltec.
