The department 

You will be part of Welltec’s Design & Engineering function in the department working from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

The department works with engineering development projects from A-Z: From research and problem definition, to idealization and generation of concepts, to developing and testing mechanical prototype solutions and scaling. 

You be situated in a team that consists of highly-skilled engineers with diverse specializations. The team collaborates with various stakeholders in Welltec inside and outside of Brazil. You will experience a team with strong values around knowledge-sharing, honesty, team work and a desire to learn and grow together.



The position 

As a Mechanical Engineer you will have the opportunity be involved in every part of Designing and Engineering mechanical solutions that have a significant and real impact on Welltec’s operations. You will participate in various projects relating to designing and developing new mechanical solutions for clients and costumers as well as innovating Welltec’s existing product portfolio.   

You will have strong opportunities to learn and develop in this position. Initially, you will undergo thorough training and be closely supported by your team members to learn about Design and Engineering in Welltec and about Welltec’s world-class tools and solutions. Over time, as you develop, you will have the opportunity to take on projects more independently in a project leading role.



Key Responsibilities

Your initial key responsibilities will vary depending on your current skills and experience level. Over time, your task portfolio will grow as you develop. However, some of the tasks you can expect to be responsible for are:

  • Designing and developing mechanical products and/or components
  • Conceptualising new products or adjustments to existing products
  • Collaborating cross-functionally on development and engineering projects whenever relevant
  • Supporting and participating in testing, modifying, fabricating and assembling prototype products
  • Supporting other teams including manufacturing, assembly, welding, testing & QC
  • Collaborating with marketing/sales to develop products to meet functional specifications & cost requirements
  • Maintaining, optimizing and developing existing commercial products
  • Teaching Welltec employees about newly developed solutions 

 

The candidate

To be successful in this role, we expect that you have a solid foundation and knowledge of key mechanical and engineering principles.  

Some of the qualifications we expect you to have are:

  • A degree within Mechanical Engineering, or alike
  • Solid demonstrated experience and strong skillset regarding design and engineering of mechanical products
  • Project work skills and/or experience
  • Competent user of CAD software (CATIA, Solidworks, or alike)
  • Knowledge of Well Construction, Well Completion and the Oil & Gas industry
  • Values knowledge sharing and is a team worker
  • Humbleness and proactive
  • Can balance between working with structure and being adaptable
  • Strong analytical skills with an eye for breaking down problems to their root-cause

A candidate with prior experience as a Field Engineer is preferred – but not required. Also, you must be willing to travel for periods of time, as you can be periodically be relocated to our various bases to work and to collaborate with your stakeholders.
