Over the years, operators have experienced the same recurring problem: loss of contact with the tool string and tools getting stuck in the wellbore. Losing the entire tool string results in a complicated fishing operation to retrieve the equipment by which operators risk tool damage.
To prevent this problem, operators contacted Welltec and encouraged us to develop a versatile and passive fail-safe release device. The result was a contingency release plan for heavy mechanical operations on wireline, i.e. the Welltec Release Device (WRD).
