Intervention throughout the Entire Length of the Well
After the Well Tractor has been rigged up on electric wireline, it descends into the hole. It falls freely under the control of the wireline due to gravity until friction, due to well deviation, prevents the tool string from progressing.
Once the Well Tractor is activated, its wheels are hydraulically deployed out of its body and start to rotate automatically. Each wheel contains its own independent hydraulic motor, which facilitates the forward motion of the Well Tractor. It centralizes itself in the wellbore once contact with casing has been established and then deploys intervention tools into the wellbore, taking the string beyond its original hang up point. The Well Tractor overcomes the limitations of traditional wireline operations by being able to reach the toe of the well and hereby conducting operations over the entire length of the wellbore.
After the Well Tractor has reached the target depth, it is powered down. It then resembles a passive sinker bar included within the tool string, which enables the wireline tool string to be pulled out of the wellbore.
