Welltec® Performs World's First Access to Horizontal Multilateral Wells
June 2005
The past few years, the number of multilateral horizontal wells has increased dramatically. Some operators employ a completion system that uses an LEM (Lateral Entry Module) that can either be left open, have a diverter installed to access the lateral or an isolation sleeve installed to block off the lateral and only allow flow from the main bore. These LEM’s were developed with coiled tubing operations in mind. However operators in the North Slope of Alaska experienced problems that required diagnosis by e-line conveyed logging operations.
We used a tandem 218 Well Tractor with a spacer installed between them to convey logging tools through the LEM’s. As a result the operator obtained valuable diagnostic data.
Welltec has an excellent track record of performance.
