Gaining Access to Formation
October 2005
At a well offshore Norway, a flexible composite sleeve was partly set below tailpipe. Several attempts to retrieve the sleeve to surface had been attempted. However, attempts proved unsuccessful and instead caused the sleeve to become stuck in cut tailpipe.
The main objective with this well intervention was to retrieve the 11 meter long composite sleeve and inflatable packer in order to gain access to lower formation.
The operation took 2 runs. During the first one, the Well Stroker latched into the sleeve at first attempt and stroked upwards twice to pull it through tailpipe. The Well Stroker then retrieved the sleeve to surface. The second run took three strokes in order to push the bottom pump assembly out of the tailpipe. This was also performed with the Well Stroker.
In total, the two runs took 32 hours from rig up to rig down.
