Welltec® Continues to Convey our Way into the SAGD Business
Canadian operators of Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) projects experienced various problems with the traditional methods for conveying ranging devices (a wireline tool used to keep two wellbores parallel during drilling operations). Previous methods had proven to be time consuming, inefficient and very troublesome for the operators.
By using the Well Tractor, operators are given the ability to let the drilling rig do what it does best: drill.
Heavy Oil
Many of the wellbores have heavy bitumen present in the casings. This oil has a viscosity value of approximately 8 api, with reservoir temperatures as cold as 44 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. The Well Tractor provides sufficient power to convey tools in this heavy viscous fluid, outperforming any other method of conveyance. The well completion tubulars vary from 7” thru to 13 3/8” for their intermediate string and various sized slotted liners below. The Well Tractor is able to drive over the liner tops and convey in multiple casing diameters in a single run.
Extremely heavy oil, slant rig ups, large casings, large changes from intermediate casing into liner tops and various sized slotted liners are just a few examples of what the Well Tractor has overcome on a daily basis in northern Alberta.
Welltec has an excellent track record of performance.
