BP had for some time experienced a problem with a well west of the Shetlands in the North Sea. A down hole completion valve had failed to open. To open the valve the Well Stroker was run in conjunction with the Well Tractor. The job was carried out from a Fourth Generation semi submersible located west of the Shetlands in connection with the final part of the well tie back phase.
Using the Well Stroker spared the operator an expensive work over in 2004.
