Clearing Isolation Valve of Debris
September 2006
At an offshore platform in the UK sector of the North Sea, an isolation valve needed to be cleared of obstructing debris. Clean-out assemblies were run in order to enable the valve to be cycled open and the well opened for clean up.
The Well Cleaner is able to attach up to 6 cleaning heads dependent on the operation and environment. A total of 10 runs were done with different cleaner heads attached. The Well Cleaner performed the operation safely with no accidents or incidents.
Furthermore, excellent recovery rate from the Well Cleaner was achieved (up to 100%) and a run of 8 chambers was achieved, which was a world’s first. A total of 3,128 fl oz was recovered to surface.
