Outstanding Reach Capability
When using the standard coiled tubing method, there is a risk that the coil will buckle, causing forward motion to stop while running in hole. Furthermore, common effects such as excessive amounts of friction can limit coiled tubing’s lateral reach. The Coiled Tubing Well Tractor eliminates these limitations and extends coiled tubing’s lateral reach in both horizontal and deviated wells.
The CT Well Tractor functions with a hydraulic over hydraulic power relationship. The controls, communications, and power source inside the CT Well Tractor are completely hydraulic, allowing the use of a modular structure for the drive sections. This makes it possible to adjust the Well Tractor’s traction by reducing or increasing the number of wheels necessary to drive the Well Tractor.
Easy Operations
The CT Well Tractor pulls coiled tubing into the wellbore and overcomes the tendency of the coil to buckle and lock up. This allows for smaller diameter coil with less wall thickness or composite coiled tubing, thereby reducing the reel weight and removing problems associated with crane lifting limitations.
To increase the ability of the Coiled Tubing Well Tractor to travel further within the wellbore, nitrogen can be added to create a neutrally buoyant state. To adjust density, foam may also be added. A neutrally buoyant state reduces resistance to the CT Well Tractor pulling the coil and subsequently increases travel distance.
To increase pull force, extra drive sections can be added. As a consequence of changing the number of drive sections, the speed can also be adjusted.
We currently provide services with the CT Well Tractor in two sizes: 2 1/8” and 3 1/8" outside diameter.
