StatoilHydro Extends Contract with Welltec
The major Norwegian operator StatoilHydro has extended the existing contract with Welltec for two years. The contract is given for Well Tractor and mechanical services to be performed in the North Sea.
The contract encompasses StatoilHydro operations for the Tampen area and in the Troll/Sleipner area in the North Sea and is for a two-year period beginning February 1st 2009 to January 31st 2011. The work consists of supplying equipment and personnel for Well Tractor operations in open and cased hole as well as for Welltec’s associated down hole mechanical services.

Welltec’s flagship technology is the Well Tractor, a fast and efficient conveyance device that is able to push toolstrings to the end of the wellbore in highly deviated and horizontal wells. Technologies from Welltec also include the Well Stroker that provides focused hydraulic force in manipulation of mechanical devices and for setting and pulling plugs, the Well Key for intelligent shifting of valves down hole, the Well Cleaner for downhole pumping and clean-out services, and the Well Miller for removing scale, hardware and other down hole obstructions.
The contract covers both conveyance and intervention services. Welltec will conduct operations with the existing broad line of their technologies and also work together with 3rd party specialist companies in the North Sea.
