Introducing the Slim Hole 2½” Coiled Tubing Well Tractor
As a response to industry demand, Welltec has introduced a new version of the field proven Coiled Tubing (CT) Well Tractor. This newest addition to the expanding tractor family is 2½” outside diameter, which makes it the ideal intervention tool for wells with restricted internal diameters.
Several tests were conducted prior to launching the new tractor, including dynamic pull tests, speed tests and dogleg severity tests – all successfully demonstrating the increased speed, force and flexibility of this new tractor. On its first run in an Alaskan well, the Well Tractor 212 CT tractored more than 8,000 ft.
The client was satisfied that this model has now set a new standard for slim hole CT tractors.
Additional Features
Despite the smaller size, functionality is uncompromised. The Well Tractor 212 CT has similar performance specifications as the larger CT Well Tractor while also providing additional features. The tool is designed with increased reach up to 10.1” instead of 8.8” for the standard CT Well Tractor 318.
The flow channels through the tool have been optimized to reduce pressure drop to a minimum. Also, design improvements in modularity allow for quicker addition or subtraction of drive sections to control speed and force. Important standard features remain such as Fail Safe wheel arms, which prevent the tool from becoming stuck in the well with the wheels extended as they retract automatically when the tool is powered down.
