Introducing the Ability to Mill and Retrieve Cuttings to Surface
The Well Miller Reverse Circulating Bit (RCB) is the latest development in precision robotics from Welltec. Best described as a tunnel power drill, the tool is the latest in the Well Miller family of tools designed to re-establish flow in well bores with obstructions such as stuck valves, plugs or scale deposits. The Well Miller RCB is able to drill through even the hardest materials, such as Barium Sulfate scale without the need for a drilling rig or a coiled tubing unit to provide circulation. Unique in the world of E-line interventions is the ability to both drill out and remove the cuttings to surface; a natural evolution of the Well Miller, which previously required surface injection or flow to mill scale.
With the ability to drill or mill and collect debris in one run, substantial work hours are saved. Cleaning the cuttings away from the bit face with the vacuum action allows the bit to always contact a clean surface and maintain job progress. Rapid mobilization and a small footprint makes this an attractive option for small platforms and well sites and avoids the cost of mobilizing a full coiled tubing spread with bottom hole assembly drill bit. The Well Miller RCB actually features the same down hole fluid circulating parameters as a full size drilling rig.
By operating with the speed and precision of E-line, the Well Miller RCB ensures that the well is quickly returned to production, exposed to fewer logistical and HSE risks. Combined with quick returns on investment, this makes the Well Miller RCB a high value-creating solution.
The amount of cutting debris collected is dependent on operation requirements; the tool can be configured to accommodate any given size, amount and type of material. Currently, the Well Miller RCB is available in 3 1/8” size.
