Kick

When the formation pressure in the borehole exceeds the pressure created by pouring drilling mud into the hole. Formation pressure pushes fluids into the borehole and drives up the drilling mud. 
 

Kickoff point

The depth of a vertical well where some directional drillings start (for instance deviated boreholes). 
 

Kill

Making a well stop flowing or having the ability to flow into the wellbore. Usually, kill procedures involve circulating reservoir fluids out of the wellbore or pumping higher density mud into the wellbore. 
 

Killer well

A well that is drilled slant ways to another well, over which control has been lost. By pouring drilling mud or water into the formation in the subsoil, the intake of combustible hydrocarbons can be stopped and control of the well regained.
