FLEX-WELL® – THE BIG PICTURE

Fast track and build wells which produce more, drain larger areas and won’t require interventions for years to come. The higher production and drainage per well enables you to reduce the number of platforms or pad sites required, significantly reducing overall CAPEX.

The Flex-Well® completion design provides all these benefits while simultaneously offering an approach that results in fewer people required, less complex operations and smaller amounts of equipment deployed for shorter amounts of time.

At the heart of the Flex-Well® completion is the Welltec® Annular Barrier (WAB®), a rugged, large expansion ratio, expandable metal barrier that can be used for a wide variety of applications including zonal isolation, cement assurance and sustained casing pressure protection.

In addition, the Welltec® Flow Valve (WFV™) which is a full-bore valve (fixed or variable choke), can be used for both production and injection purposes within the lower completion. The rugged design enables rotation of the lower completion during liner deployment.

With specially designed inlets and a novel sealing system, the Welltec® Flow Valve is qualified to open and close multiple times under differential pressure while maintaining flow, from both injection and production scenarios.

The full-bore design allows for hydraullic optimization of the well and together with a Welltec® Annular Barrier providing high pressure zonal isolation, the Welltec® Flow Valve forms an integral part of the Flex-Well® completion.

In combination with our WAB® and WFV technologies, the Welltec® Data Monitoring (WDM™) sensor packages open up the capability to measure annular pressures and temperatures over time. Installed with the WAB®, these compact sensor packages provide the industry a novel means of obtaining valuable, time-lapse data about the completion and well construction without the limitations and costs imposed by control lines.

When all these components are combined together, the Flex-Well® design provides unique benefits throughout the life of the well – Simply put, higher recovery in a safer, more sustainable way.
