Welltec’s revenue growth eased in the first quarter following the exceptional performance in the third and fourth quarters of 2012. EBITDA was reduced due to a combination of lower quarterly revenues and the significant investments in operational capacity in order to deliver the continued growth. As seen in previous quarters, this front-loading of additional costs has a short-term impact on margins and is a consequence of the continued growth cycle. Accordingly, Welltec® upholds its revenue and earnings forecast for the full-year.

Welltec Middle East receives Letter of Appreciation on logging job

A Letter of Appreciation from Petroleum Development Oman LLC was recently presented to Welltec Middle East and the team involved in preparing and executing a logging job on the horizontal KLD-8 well in the Khulud HP/HT gas field. This was a new well and the acquisition of cement evaluation data was critical in preparation for the subsequent fracture stimulations.

DHAHRAN, Saudi Arabia - The EXPEC Advanced Research Center (EXPEC ARC) and Welltec have collaboratively developed and successfully field tested the first 2-1/8 inch well tractor that can pull a coiled tubing through to the total depth (TD) of the well to perform stimulation and logging jobs in addition to other well management jobs. The tractor is a tandem set-up equipped with dedicated turbines and generators that can provide the necessary power to the tractors to pull the stimulation and other tools down to the TD.

Welltec has realized such substantial growth over the past eighteen months that the Americas headquarters’ facilities located in Houston, Texas, could no longer accommodate the expansion. As such, we have decided to build a stand-alone property in the West Houston area. This facility will house our local sales team as well as the addition of the Americas management team, a maintenance hub, and training academy.

Faced with several wells becoming plugged by scale, an operator was looking for the ideal method to restore well productivity. Several reservoirs were sensitive to foreign fluid invasion and all the wells contained nipple profiles, limiting access further.
