Welltec conveyance solutions are designed to deliver well intervention tools to the desired location with high precision. These solutions are all based on the field proven Well Tractor technology. A technology which has added a new dimension to tractor based well intervention as operations can be performed over the entire length of the well and at any inclination.
Using tractor based conveyance on electric line offers a number of advantages and provides operators with a fast and reliable way of performing the various well intervention operations. Operations which range from standard logging and diagnostic runs to complicated mechanical operations such as manipulation of valves, setting and pulling plugs of packers and milling operations where scale or other material is removed. Furthermore, a wide range of cleanout operations are carried out to restore well conditions.
The Well Tractor's drive units or sections are modular with four wheels per section. Sections can be mounted in extension of each other to increase the traction force. Fail-safe features prevent the Well Tractor from getting stuck in the well bore with the arms and wheels extended. The arms and wheels will automatically retract if the power is cut, thereby leaving a toolstring with a flush surface and no protruding obstacles ready to be pulled out.
By using tractor based technology conveyed on electric line, interventions can be carried out swiftly and safely, effectively replacing other methods. The equipment is designed to be transported by helicopter or a small truck together with the crew and launched from a crane or mast.
For extreme conditions and where very high pull forces are required, coiled tubing based tractors can be used. These are powered by fluid pumped through the coiled tubing which similarly can be used to transport acid for stimulation and enhancement of the production.
